Your Union, Your President
As President I will be representing YOU. I will champion your views and communicate your issues to the University so that YOUR voice is heard.
I am currently Law Society President, Vice-Principal Ambassador, Class Gift Committee Chair, Senior Chorister of the Chapel Choir, also sitting on Your600th committee and the Charities Campaign. This broad experience enables me to work effectively as your Association President.
Working together with the other Sabbaticals, I will work on five main areas:
Redevelopment: I will make sure the practicalities of each stage of the redevelopment are understood, allowing societies, events and services to continue largely undisturbed, and ensuring that facilities remain available.
Accommodation: I will return Fife Park to the agenda, work to guarantee that affordable University accommodation is available and increase Accommodation Bursaries and their visibility
Communication: I will represent YOUR views to the University, striving to maintain a working relationship, without compromising the issues which are important to you. I will also run student polls and operate an open door policy - any issues, ask Alex.
Widening Participation: I am proud to be a student at St Andrews, and the image of the University should reflect our experiences. I will work to continue expanding the outreach schemes to encompass the whole of Scotland so that everyone has the opportunity to study here.
Community: I want to work to create more prominent Postgraduate and International communities and also improve relations between the University and Town.
Vote ATR. Alex Thornton-Reid for Association President.
